Texas woman sentenced for fatal DWI
A 25 year-old woman from Conroe was sentenced to fifteen years in prison after pleading no contest to intoxication manslaughter.
Two years ago, the woman left a San Antonio Chili’s with a blood alcohol level of 0.30, nearly four times the legal limit of 0.08. She crashed into another car, killing the driver. The woman in the other car was a 53 year-old mother of two who cared for her husband, who had multiple sclerosis.
The maximum sentencing for intoxication manslaughter is twenty years. The Bexar County District Judge sentenced her to fifteen because of her high blood alcohol level and deemed her car a deadly weapon. She must serve half her sentence before applying for parole.
