Are Field Sobriety Tests Accurate?
Field sobriety tests have long been the standard method to estimate a person’s blood alcohol content, or BAC. These tests are based on the premise that when you drink, the alcohol molecules affect your brain in a way that causes you to lose coordination, balance, and other skills. Field sobriety tests measure these skills to determine if you are too intoxicated to drive.
Frustratingly, although field sobriety tests may provide an estimate of your BAC, they are entirely subjective and based on the administering officer’s perception of your results. Thus, a law enforcement official can determine that you are driving while intoxicated when in reality you are below the legal limit.
If you believe that a wrongful field sobriety test has led to your DWI charges, you can fight back. Contact experienced San Antonio DWI test defense attorney Chris S. Barnett today at 210-587-6464 to learn more about how we can help you.
